We came here to Private Stay by MadlyGiving for a luncheon and fell in love!! The atmosphere, beauty, food, and host were 5 star all the way. Let's start with the luxury and history you see and feel when you walk in. Mariby, has curated an amazing little gem overlooking the National Harbor in a quiet neighborhood. When you are inside of the bed and breakfast you feel like a true getaway. Okay now let's talk about those Slap biscuits! I am from SC and these rival any biscuit from home in the best way. The attention to detail, every corner of this artist's appointed home is a feast for the eyes to see as you dance from fine china, sculpture, unique seating and artwork. To Celebrate My Wife
The experience was phenomenal! I chose to do a Bed and Breakfast as a way to celebrate my Wife, as well as spend time with my family. We stayed for a weekend and were pampered with utmost care and attention to detail. The weekend was incredible. The home was beautiful.. The Warmth, Historical Richness
This place is really beautiful - the warmth, historical richness, service, owner, views, furniture, cleanliness... The rooms are all super beautiful, immaculately maintained, and all have a distinct character. Staying in the Sissy room, but did see all of the rooms and they're all incredible. The owner/host is super kind and I gave her a hug when I arrived; it was a really nice change from the hustle of life. I can't stress enough how welcoming and amazing the location. I've never left a review while still staying at a location, but it's very special. A Palace Guest House
This place was fantastic! I felt like I was in a palace guest house! I was in town for a conference at National Harbor that ran out of hotel space. It was such a pleasure to return every evening to such a peaceful and relaxing environment (her [International Soul] play list is lit). So glad my last day was open - so spent it at the home, rather than site seeing! Mariby is an incredible hostess and is there to assist with whatever you need. You’ll feel pampered in every room of the house! The decor is amazing! Great collection of African art and cultural items from [West Africa]. Murder Mystery Masquerade Dinner Party
I had the pleasure at staying at the jewel of a bed and breakfast on October 13. I explained to her that I was having a murder mystery masquerade birthday party. She was more than accommodating. I told her what I wanted the menu to be for the dinner and she exceeded my expectations. The food and the presentation were amazing. Each room in the house is thoughtfully
decorated. The ambiance exudes relaxation and curated with adornments, colors and furniture that wonderfully tie into the experience. Oh and don't forget about those SLAP Biscuits! My guests and I had seconds! The brunch presentation was just as excellent as the dinner! The food was absolutely amazing and the hospitality was the cherry on the top! This place is amazing! The rooms are simply gorgeous. The decor is to die for. The beds are soooo soft. The color schemes screams luxury and everywhere smells so good. This is the best hidden gem in Maryland. I don’t know where to begin. Mariby is a wonderful hostess who makes it her mission to ensure your stay is perfect. She curates an experience that will leave you in awe. Her decor is also amazing. You go from being afraid to touch anything (if you grew up with a Black grandmother) to wanting to tour the museum. Breakfast In Bed
This was an amazing place to stay. Mariby certainly goes above and beyond to accommodate her guests and make them feel at home and to make you feel special! Her hospitality is unmatched and she is clearly doing what she was born to do! Book this place immediately.
Mariby gave us a tour of the house. She welcomed us with bottled water, warm biscuits with butter and jam and had a variety of nuts, fruit and other snacks that we were welcome to have at any time. There was a delightful deck that I wish we had the time and weather to enjoy.
The room was immaculate! There was a welcome tray on the bed with all the conveniences you would expect at a hotel (shampoo, conditioner etc.) and even a toothbrush if you neglected your own. Everything was clean and the entire home was decorated in such an amazing way. We also had breakfast in bed which was amazing. I can't say enough good things about our stay but my character limit will not let me. lol. Do yourself a favor and stay here.—Janey & Tony

Many Welcoming Touches
The home was beautifully decorated and very special. Beds were cozy with soft sheets, and bathrooms had some of the softest towels ever. Quiet, peaceful location. Mariby included many touches that were welcoming and ensured our comfort - fresh fruit, cold drinks, lights on when we arrived, snacks available, toiletries available. We were in town for a convention including my teenage boys, and were looking for peaceful, quiet nights of sleep in between very busy days with lots of walking. This was just what we needed. I wanted to do something extra special and unique for my birthday this year, so I called on Mariby to host a dinner party for me at her estate. I had heard of her legendary spreads but nothing would have prepared me for the sheer opulence and attention to detail she gave me and my guests. As soon as I booked, the experience began. Huge Understatement
Words simply can’t describe the experience at brunch today with Grannie and Mariby. The food was superb, the wisdom was unexpected yet delightful, the fellowship was exactly what we all needed. To say brunch was delicious would be a HUGE understatement of what I really received from brunch today. My college friends and I were greeted at the door and warmly welcomed into your lovely home, but were still uncertain of what to expect. We were full times two. My belly and heart were full and bursting with deep love. The kind that is layered and layered in flavor and the conversation and experiences in rich history, which is not possible at a traditional restaurant. We needed to select a place to dine somewhere between Philly and Manassas to accommodate us, and then I remembered your post [Lydia]. You said it was worth the trip, but I didn’t expect such a rewarding experience. What a hidden gem! … My heart is full. I had THE best brunch experience with my “good, good girlfriends” of almost 25 years, hosted by Mariby Corpening and Grannie. I don’t think I will ever look at a regular restaurant brunch the same. Meeting Grannie [Mariby's Mom] at a recent [MadlyGiving] brunch was a life-affirming, perhaps even a life-changing experience for me. I was not sure what to expect, since I only knew one person at the table. But immediately, you felt the warmth and comfort of Mariby and the wisdom of Grannie. I don't eat meat often, but I did have a taste of her [Peruvian-Spiced] fried chicken and Mariby made waffles from scratch—the best ever! And I like that she served a green salad and a fruit salad, too. But for me, truly, it was Grannie's Wisdom; took the experience over the top. Grannie shared some of her natural health remedies with us and I even tried her tonic. She said she takes a table spoonful everyday. She told us where to get the recipe on line [Master Tonic]. From beginning to end this Black History Celebration that Recognizes Black Women in Business was amazing. Dr. Garvin attended to every single detail of making all of we honorees feel so special...for each of we ten honorees - to the scrumptious libation, dinner (served immaculately) we dined off of fine china, crystal and silken napkins. The food was over the top. African seasoned chicken [Yassa], honey & mustard glazed, baked salmon, Jollof rice, roasted vegetables and a green tossed salad with homemade creamy, garlic dressing. This was a different experience for me—Yoga and a [complimentary] healthy delectable brunch [A MadlyGiving Brunch & Learn] afterwards, and boy were we hungry too! The yoga session was very stimulating and yet calming. Our yogi [Sharon Harper of ANALI Yoga] made us feel comfortable and relaxed. I just wanted to go to sleep right there on the mat. A Brunch of Sundays
The comfort, the warmth, the soulfulness of [HospiTalent Mariby Corpening] takes "dining in" to another level. I had heard about her brunch [experiences], especially "The Biscuits" and I'd read her food blog; so, the food is juuuust great! We had her [Peruvian-Spiced] Fried Chicken [with Home-Made Hot Sauce] and Belgian Waffles, she also makes from scratch; but, the conversation, the relaxation, the inspiration, the fellowship.
I am generally not so open, but we talked about our lives, our families, our passions, we debated current affairs, oh how we laughed, a lot, even shared a few tears—some powerful testimonies. Grannie told us about her health tonics and we all agreed on the needs in our community and paying it forward! It was intimate, good-natured and all very unexpected, refreshing, moving, memorable. I didn't know most of the people at the table, but at the end [almost four hours later], we hugged and exchanged information with promises to return. So, and to my surprise, I truly did not want to leave.
Not sure what I expected when I donated [and received a complimentary brunch], and to think I'd thought about canceling [because, who are these people]. I am so glad I came and met Mariby, Grannie and some new folks, too!
