Welcome to a kaleidoscope of art, color, culture & history! This is so much more than my home; it is a Celebration of My Ancestry—a living altar to the queens who not only anchored, but profoundly shaped my existence.
Here, I honor the exceptional women who molded my life—My Momma, My Auntie, and My Mother-In-Law. Their spirits breathe life into the guest-room sanctuaries so named in their honor: Sissy, Shirley & Sanata.
Every inch of this space is a love letter to the matriarchs of my lineage. Step inside and be enveloped by a purpose-filled retreat adorned in deep, rich Afrocentric tapestries, alive with vibrant fabrics, prints and textures, commanded by a striking galleria of family history and African art—brilliant portraits and hand-carved masks that stand guard with silent majesty.
From the living room galleria, a striking showcase where adoring family photos gaze back at you whispering of wisdom, grounding the space in history, to the grand dining room, to the sun-drenched private deck, every corner invites connection. We embrace the art of conversation here—unplug in a sanctuary free of the media; you will find no TVs in my guest rooms, and at sunrise, sip a cup of coffee as you unwind in the cozy morning room or step onto the private backyard deck drenched in liquid gold sunlight; while at sunset, the front balcony offers a front-row seat to scenic cityscapes and spontaneous fireworks bursting off the banks of the Potomac River at National Harbor.
A Culinary Storytelling: For those seeking a truly immersive experience, I also offer A Feast for the Senses—Intimate, Private, Reservation-Only, My Signature Themed Dining Experiences—Brunches, Dinners, or Tea Parties (for 6–10 guests) that feed the body, the soul, and the belly, and we won’t even mention, My SLAP Biscuits! Full-house ACCOMMODATIONS INCLUDE:
All Three Standard-Size Guests Rooms — Each eloquently appointed with queen-size bed, goose down-stuffed duvet comforter, soft bamboo sheets, 100% cotton towels, plush fleece bathrobes, warm welcoming toiletry tray and two full plus one half baths
The Living/Drawing Room Galleria — Warm and inviting with master chess table, games and lots of nostalgic photos and African-American history
Formal Dining/Meeting Room — Fit for grandeur, comfortably serves up to 10 guests (seated) for 5-Star Private Dining Experiences—at charge by reservation only
Morning/TV Room — As there are no TVs in my guest rooms, this room is cozy and comfortable and in the mornings, put your feet up and sip a cup of coffee in the warm sun
Kitchen — Access to full kitchen—except for cooking on the stove top—and guests are fully responsible for cleaning up after themselves. NOTE: Breakfast is NOT included with room rate(s); though, Breakfast Options are available with advanced notice. Complimentary Help-Yourself Continental is available throughout your stay. Outdoor Balcony/Deck — Both a private backyard deck and scenic front balcony (with views of National Harbor, MGM, Woodrow Wilson Bridge and across the bridge into Alexandria, VA)
Accommodations include central air/heat, high-speed internet, in-room ceiling/fan, bathrobes, towels, toiletries, iron/board and hair dryer. NOTE: $150 Cleaning Fee applies with all Full-House Reservations.
